Review: Duvvada Jagganadam – Loads of action, thrills, fun and twists

After an impressive show in his previous outing as powerful happy-go-lucky guy, Stylish Star Allu Arjun joins hands with Harish Shankar for a romantic and action entertainer Sarrainodu. The film finally hit the screens today. Let us see what  is on store for us.

Story:

Duvvada Jagannadham (Allu Arjun) works as a cook master. He will take care of the events and functions happening nearby his place. During that course, one day unexpectedly, he meets Pooja Hedge and from there the love story starts and takes many turns in a twisted way until the end.

In that palace, crores of a property is named after the Brahmin community. Royaala Naidu (Rao Ramesh) eyes that property and he will try to grab the land from them. Meanwhile, the villain also has similar plans and sends his men to India to get hold of the property. 

DJ fights with these people who came to India to take the land. Later, he will go to a foreign country to meet the main Villain by changing his avatar to bring some justice to their community people. What happens next? What is the relationship between Duvvada Jagannadham and the villain? Did DJ brings justice to his community? What happens to their love story? Forms the rest of the story.

Positive Aspects: 

The first half is total entertainment with loads of fun particularly the Allu Arjun- Pooja Hedge love track. Allu Arjun has mesmerized the fans with his dancing and the songs are simply superb placed according to the situation in the movie. 

Allu Arjun has impressed the audience with his dance and punch dialogues. In his Brahmin avatar, he has managed to entertain the audience a lot, however, it falls short when compared to Jr NTR in the similar role. Pooja Hedge and Rao Ramesh’s performance is quite different from other movies and it will showcase them in a better image after Duvvada Jagannadham.

Harish Shankar is that director who wants to change the face of Telugu cinema but has recently taken the comfortable route of making action-entertainers with his signature elements of extremely powerful dialogues and strong emotional connect. 

This time, the story of a Brahmin guy and his transformation into powerful intelligence officer. This is one of his mature performances, thanks to Harish Shankar’s character sketch. 

DJ is not that regular template you come across, but definitely has all the ingredients to appeal to audiences of all classes and masses. Be it the situations where the story is first established and then the characters being introduced, Harish Shankar has trusted his screenplay, his cast and DSP’s music as the USP to pull off a simple story quite engagingly. 

Pooja Hedge comes almost throughout the film and also her looks and comical timing and sizzling chemistry comprehend each other. She couldn’t have asked for a better film. Her presence tickle the funny bone in the first half of the film. It was surprising to see all the roles being given equal prominence and nothing or nobody was unnecessary.

It is Rao Ramesh’s characterization coinciding with the core story and lots of appealing situational comedy that gets the going interesting. Rao Ramesh’s expertise as an actor does add so much value to the film.

Vennela Kishore giving their share of funny moments, DJ doesn’t become a strain to follow. Allu Arjun is almost the best dancer in the country and all his movements are always jaw-dropping, particularly the different types of moon-walks he manages to do. Even the songs had some pleasing scenes fused in to save some time on the story and not take another minute to go into the story. DJ gets better when some minute nuances in the story outsmart a situation, and ends on a high. 

 First half of the movie is mind-blowing and it increases the audience’s curiosity to know the second part of the movie. A climax is a major highlight in the movie and Allu Arjun’s chase behind the villain scene is awesome.

Special mentions for the production value in the backdrops and the climax song. DSP’s rocking BGM and energetic songs are major highlight of the film. Edits in the songs and the fights were above-average. Prasad’s camera work was fresh and real. A big winner for the Harish Shankar- Allu Arjun combo.

Verdict:

Allu Arjun show all the way. Bunny rocked in every aspect. The captain behind the cinema did a PH.D in defining the mass and romantic flicks. He perfectly knows the pulse of audience. Indulge in the world of action, thrills , fun and twists.
